In 2015 Prag Cine Awards, Papon is awarded the Global Icon Award. Papon has seven Assamese albums to his name – two original albums and five folk albums. he can easily switch from folk music to ghazals to electronica and collaborated many local and foreign artists. In the last couple of years, Papon has quickly carved a niche for himself in the world of playback singing in Bollywood, Tamil, Marathi and Bangla movies.
His inspirations came from the Assamese traditional Folk songs of Eastern. Coming from a musically attuned family, Music has always been in his blood. While rooted in folk, Papon has a wide variety of influences and considered to be an extremely versatile artist.
